From audio to useful notes

Listen to this fictional project update, then compare the transcript with an example summary. The narration is synthetic and the notes are illustrative; results vary with your recording.

Transcript

Here is the project update. We are moving the website launch to September twenty-fourth so we have time to test the checkout. Maya will finish the checkout tests by September eighteenth. Jordan will update the help article by September twenty-first. We have not approved an advertising budget yet. At our next meeting, we need to review the test results and decide whether the launch is ready.

Example summary

How it works

  1. Upload your file. Drag in any audio or video — a voice memo, a meeting recording, an interview, a lecture.
  2. AI transcribes it. Pick the language (or let it auto-detect) and each speaker is labeled with timestamps.
  3. Get the summary. Alongside the full transcript, you get a structured summary with key points and action items — copy it or download everything as a text file.

Common questions

Is this transcription tool really free?

Yes. You can transcribe up to 5 files per day (200MB each) free, with no account and no watermark. For unlimited recording and transcription, the Wave app has a free plan and paid plans from $80 a year or $15 a month.

What file formats can I upload?

Any common audio or video format: m4a, mp3, wav, aac, ogg, flac, mp4, webm, and mov. Video files are transcribed from their audio track.

Does it detect different speakers?

Yes. The transcript labels each speaker automatically (Speaker A, Speaker B, …) with timestamps, so you can follow who said what.

What languages are supported?

You can choose from 15 languages — including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Chinese — or let the tool detect the language automatically. The AI summary is written in the same language as the recording.

What happens to my file after transcription?

Your file is uploaded to temporary storage, transcribed, and then deleted from our storage automatically. We don't keep your audio.

How is this different from the Wave app?

This tool transcribes files you already have. The Wave app records the conversation in the first place — meetings, phone calls, in-person conversations, lectures — on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, and Apple Watch, and transcribes and summarizes automatically. Every recording is saved to a searchable library you can ask questions about.
